About the School
A legacy of faith, knowledge and character.
Regina Coeli College occupies a distinguished place in the history of Catholic education in Southern Nigeria. Founded in 1955 through the vision and missionary commitment of the St. Patrick's Missionaries of Kiltegan, Ireland, the College has for decades been a centre of learning, discipline, faith and character formation for young men.
The missionaries saw a growing need for quality Catholic education in the then Opobo Division — an area that today largely covers Ikot Abasi, Mkpat Enin and Eastern Obolo Local Government Areas and parts of Rivers State — and conceived a Catholic secondary school dedicated to boys. The first students were admitted in January 1956, and its reputation soon drew families from different parts of the country.
The College became particularly renowned as a science-oriented institution. Today it embraces a broad curriculum in Science, Arts and Humanities and Business Studies, together with Mathematics, Languages and Communication, the Social Sciences and modern technological skills — preparing students for higher education, professional careers and responsible citizenship. It operates under the Catholic Education Commission of the Catholic Diocese of Uyo.
